Lagos nabs suspect caught dumping refuse on Lekki-Epe Expressway

The Lagos State Government has arrested a man caught in the act of illegally dumping refuse along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The incident, which was made public via the official X handle of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, revealed that the culprit was apprehended by the state’s enforcement team while engaging in the unlawful act.

“This vehicle was intercepted along the Lekki-Epe Expressway while its driver was caught in the act of illegally dumping refuse on the highway.

“The driver has been arrested, the vehicle seized, and he will be arraigned in court immediately,” Wahab stated.

He emphasised that the government would not relent in its crackdown on environmental offenders and urged residents to support efforts to keep the city clean.

“Let this serve as a clear warning: Lagos State will not tolerate acts that endanger our environment and public health. Enforcement is active, and violators will be held fully accountable,” he warned.

The commissioner further stressed the need for citizens to adopt responsible waste disposal habits, adding that, “A Cleaner Lagos begins with responsible behavior.”

The state government has intensified its environmental enforcement activities under the #CleanerLagos initiative aimed at promoting hygiene, public health, and urban cleanliness.
