Laide Bakare calls out Eniola Badmus after altercation at movie premiere

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has publicly called out her colleague and former friend, Eniola Badmus, following a heated argument at the premiere of the movie Owambe Thieves, directed by Eniola Ajao.

The drama unfolded at the event when Laide and Eniola were captured in a tense exchange that almost escalated into a physical altercation.

In the video clip circulating on social media, Eniola is seen walking into the venue as Laide rushes towards her, visibly upset and hurling words at her, though Eniola ignores her.

Taking to her Instagram page, Laide shared a screenshot of a private message from Eniola, who expressed her displeasure over Laide sharing a photo of them together.

In the message, Eniola accused Laide of displaying “terrible animalistic behaviour” and urged her to stay away from her.

In her post, Laide responded, reminding Eniola of how she had helped her when no one else would, due to her physical appearance and weight.

Laide emphasized how she had given Eniola her first major acting role and spent her own money on her, only to be repaid with insults.

Laide’s post included a passionate statement: “I gave you the first major role in your life when no one wanted to associate with you because of your ugly looks and obesity. I spent my own hard-earned money on an ingrate like you; all you could pay me back with is to call me an animal? Haaa! ENIOLA! Almighty God will judge you, Insha Allah. You have started what you can’t finish, and I promise you, you must collect.”

This is not the first time the two actresses have clashed. In 2023, Eniola and Laide had a public fallout after Eniola made a pointed remark about Laide’s outfit, comparing it to that of Pastor Adejara.

Laide, known for her bold personality, hit back, accusing Eniola and some of her colleagues of never celebrating her achievements but always focusing on her mistakes.

Eniola retaliated by reminding Laide of a previous incident when she shamed her for not having children and for her political support for President Bola Tinubu during the election. Eniola also made it clear in her response that she was not one to be messed with.

The rift between the two comes shortly after they were spotted together at an event in Abuja, where Laide had expressed her excitement about reconnecting with Eniola, calling her a “big girl” and referring to her as a “once upon a time friend.”
