Controversial Nigerian singer, Okikiola Badmus, famously known as Portable, has been granted bail in a dramatic court ruling after facing serious charges in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Upper Area Court granted him bail in the staggering sum of ₦1 million, following his arrest on charges of criminal defamation, intimidation, cyberstalking, and inciting public unrest.
Portable, who has often courted controversy with his outspoken and rebellious nature, now faces even stricter conditions.
The court demanded that he provide two sureties, each matching the bail amount.
One must be the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, while the other must own land within a Government Reserved Area (GRA), with the necessary Certificate of Occupancy to back up the claim.
The decision comes after a tense legal battle that has kept the outspoken singer in the headlines, most recently for his clash with Fuji star Osupa.
Portable had landed in police custody following serious defamation allegations levelled against him by fuji legend Saheed Osupa.
According to a statement issued by Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Portable is accused of criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and actions likely to disturb public peace—including the use of abusive language against the veteran musician.
With sufficient evidence submitted alongside the petition, the police secured an arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin.
