Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem has said Nigerian President’s son Seyi Tinubu should tell his father that Nigerian youths do not have job, let alone food to eat.
Eedris said this in a personality interview with Channels Television on Sunday.
He said his song was banned by the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) for criticising bad governance and policies.
Eedris recorded a song titled ‘Tell your papa’ which dwells on the hardship Nigerians are currently facing.
The song was a response to Seyi Tinubu following his campaign at an event where he claimed his father is the best President.
“I was inspired by Seyi Tinubu to record the song. I saw a video where he was campaigning for his father and he was defending his father saying, my father is the best president, my father is the greatest president. He said this about six times. But Seyi I defer, you look more perfect when you’re silent than when you speak” Eedris said in the interview.
He says, in the song, that “Tinubu is the best father to seyi Tinubu but he’s the worst president to Nigeria.
“He has empowered Seyi Tinubu as a son but Nigerian youth don’t have job talk-less of food to eat, the Nigerian youth can’t travel by road because of Kidnapping. So I asked Seyi Tinubu to travel by road without a security, let him feel the pains of ordinary citizens.”
According to the singer, “Nigerian youth are just asking for basics like electricity, security, job creation not palliatives. So I keep hearing people saying that why should I attack Seyi Tinubu personally, Seyi Tinubu came to be part of politics, he talks about his father, defending his father, if he never talked about it I wouldn’t have recorded the song like that. So, I’m giving him a reply to the video that he made. If seyi had kept quiet I wouldn’t have said anything to him. I’m inspired by Seyi Tinubu to record that song.”
