Prominent Rivers State politician Prince Kalada Allison has called on President Bola Tinubu to halt the emergency rule in Rivers State, and reinstate Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and assembly members.
Kalada, via a statement issued on Tuesday, criticized the appointment of a sole administrator across all 23 local government areas, describing it as a blatant disregard for the democratic process and the will of the people.
According to Kalada, this move undermines the voices of Rivers State citizens, who deserve representation through their elected officials rather than appointed administrators.
He also condemned the alleged use of state funds to manipulate public sentiment, including reports of enticing mothers and community members to protest in favor of a state of emergency.
Kalada, however, urged the youth of Rivers State to peacefully demand the reinstatement of their democratically elected officials, emphasizing the critical role the younger generation plays in advocating for their rights and restoring democracy.
He further noted that he believes that mobilizing and voicing concerns can help ensure the future is shaped by representatives who truly reflect the interests and aspirations of the people.
The politician argued that the declaration of a state of emergency has exacerbated existing problems and appears to be a power grab rather than a genuine effort to restore peace.
He added that these actions were detrimental to Nigeria’s democratic fabric and called for a swift resolution to restore normalcy and governance in Rivers State.
Kalada also said the recent rally by some women in support of the state of emergency in Rivers State further showed that things are not run democratically and such events were sponsored by power grabbers.
As the situation continues to unfold, Prince Kalada said he remains committed to advocating for good governance and democratic principles.
