Nigerian actress Eucharia Anunobi recently addressed the topic of the DM etiquette amongst Nigerians. The actress took to her Instagram page to express her disappointment in how conversations are being initiated.
Anunobi, in her video explained how frustrating this trend has become.
“I don’t get it. I really don’t get it. Why would you come to someone’s DM and write hi? Hello, Beauty. For crying out loud, you think we all have time to waste?” Eucharia expressed in her video.
While speaking, the veteran opened up about how she views greetings without a follow up message or without a clear direction as idle chatter .
“Oh, so we should start chit-chatting. Hey, then I write hello, then you say ‘How are you?’ That’s fine. Come on, now. Man, shoot your shot, write your intentions, write where you’re going to, where you’re coming from, come on.” she said.
Eucharia advised that messaging should be direct and intentional. She emphasized that people are too busy with responsibilities and being vague while sending a message does not come off as serious.
She also advised those that reach out to public figures, telling them to be clear and confident as this is what catches attention.
