The Nigeria Police Force has come down hard on a group of its officers captured in a viral video allegedly receiving money from a Chinese national, condemning the act as both “unprofessional” and “unethical.”

In a strongly worded statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police described the incident as a clear violation of the standards and values expected of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The actions of the police officers in the video do not reflect the ethics, discipline, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force. We have zero tolerance for such misconduct,” the statement read.

“The police officers involved have reportedly been identified and are currently undergoing internal disciplinary procedures,” he added.

The Force also used the occasion to caution individuals and organisations who engage police personnel for specialised duties such as escorts and private guards.

It warned against actions that could compromise the integrity of the Force or bring its image into disrepute.

“We urge those privileged to the services of police officers to refrain from behaviour that could degrade the integrity of our personnel,” Adejobi added.

This development has sparked renewed conversations around accountability and the need for continuous internal reform within Nigeria’s security agencies.

As public trust remains a cornerstone of effective policing, the Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to professionalism and restoring citizens’ confidence in law enforcement.
