FRSC blames reckless driving as five die in Osun road crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, has confirmed the death of five people in an accident involving a Toyota Hilux and an articulated vehicle on Ife-Ilesa highway on Saturday.

Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, in Osogbo, FRSC spokesperson for Osun attributed the accident to reckless driving.

Ogungbemi disclosed that the accident involved nine passengers; six male adults, two female adults and a child.

She said five of the passengers died in the accident, one injured and three rescued unhurt.

“The only injured passenger has been taken to an undisclosed hospital, while the bodies of deceased deposited at a morgue.

“The accident occurred due to road traffic violation and disobedient to road traffic regulations,” she said.

Ogungbemi said that items recovered at the scene of the accident were handed over to the family members of the victims in the presence of the police officers.
