Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on Christians and Nigerians at large to embody the spirit of love, sacrifice, and unity exemplified by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Speaking during the 2025 edition of the Family Easter Fiesta, themed “Love Beyond Measure”, held at the Lagos House, Marina, the First Lady described Easter as a season that reaffirms God’s enduring love for humanity.

Quoting from Isaiah 53:5, she underscored that Christ’s crucifixion was the ultimate symbol of divine love, while His resurrection brought victory over sin and death.

“Easter is more than a celebration. It’s a profound reminder of the virtues of sacrifice, charity, faith, and unconditional love,” Dr. Sanwo-Olu stated.

“Through Christ’s triumph over death, we are called to reflect these values in our daily lives.”

She noted that the annual Easter Fiesta, which has become a cherished tradition under her office, offers children a unique opportunity to interact with the first family, receive spiritual guidance, and be celebrated with gifts.

“The season reminds us of the power of love and God’s boundless grace. This celebration is especially dear to my heart because it helps instill core values and foster unity among our children,” she added.

Encouraging the youth, the First Lady urged them to pursue their dreams boldly. “Do not be afraid to shine. Believe in your abilities and steer clear of negative influences,” she advised.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, described Easter as a “season of love” and urged children to uphold positive values.

“You are the future. Be good ambassadors of your families and our dear state,” he said, assuring the children of the government’s commitment to quality education and skills development.

In a sermon delivered at the event, Reverend Kolade Ilori of Hoarse Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba, reminded the audience of God’s expectation that His love be shared with all—near and far.
