Popular Nigerian actor and activist, Mr Macaroni, has criticised former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, over his reaction to the destruction of property in Kano State.

The incident involved media personality Rahama Saidu, whose property was reportedly vandalised. Saidu had released a video calling out the state governor in response to the act. However, Bashir Ahmad reacted by condemning her response, describing it as inappropriate and unjustified.

Mr Macaroni, in turn, accused Ahmad of failing to denounce the actual destruction, instead choosing to criticise the victim. His comments sparked widespread debate on social media, with users questioning Ahmad’s stance and apparent insensitivity to the issue.

Mr Macaroni also reacted to Bashir’s comment calling him out for attempting to shift blame.

“This is a former Presidential Media aide who has OON attached to his name telling the world that it is wrong for a citizen to criticize the Governor who is a public servant. There is no justification for the destruction of Rahama Saidu’s properties!!! And the first part of Bashir’s message blames the victim instead of outrightly condemning the attack!” Mr Macaroni stated on his x page quoting Bashir’s reaction.

Mr Macaroni further stated that citizens have the right to hold public officials accountable and express their grievances without fear of retribution.

“So, a citizen expressing her frustrations is now justification for the destruction of her property? Do the people no longer have the right to speak out?” he wrote. “You defend oppression when it affects others, but condemn it when it affects you… Despicable!”
