In a scathing social media post, Reno Omokri, a former presidential aid has taken aim at Pastor Tunde Bakare’s recent remarks regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Omokri, in a direct response to Bakare’s comments, argues that the clergyman’s grievances were rooted in his defeat during the 2022 APC presidential primaries, where he scored zero votes against Tinubu.

Omokri went further to suggest that Bakare, who once claimed to have been divinely chosen to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, has since turned bitter and envious of Tinubu’s ascension to the highest office in the land.

“You cannot expect a rival you defeated to be fair, just, and balanced concerning you,” Omokri stated, drawing a parallel between Bakare’s claims and the competitive tensions in the entertainment world, likening the situation to Kanye West’s discontent after losing the Grammy Award for Album of the Year to Taylor Swift.

The controversial comments stem from Bakare’s 2022 presidential ambitions, which, despite significant personal investment and public proclamations, were quashed when he was roundly defeated at the APC primary.

Omokri, undeterred by Bakare’s continued public assertions, reiterated that Bakare’s claims about divine ordination to lead Nigeria were not only unfounded but contradicted by the reality of Tinubu’s presidency.

“Do you then expect him to be happy with Bola Tinubu for occupying a position promised to him by heaven?” Omokri asked, implying that Bakare’s discontent with Tinubu’s victory is an extension of his unfulfilled belief in divine destiny.

Further highlighting what he described as Bakare’s tendency to “lie against heaven,” Omokri pointed to past instances, including Bakare’s 2006 assertion that the Holy Spirit had condemned Buhari as part of Nigeria’s decaying past—a claim Bakare later contradicted when he aligned himself with Buhari in the 2011 elections.

As the tension between the two political figures continues to simmer, the public is left to wonder whether Bakare’s ongoing critique of President Tinubu is a genuine theological concern or simply the bitterness of a defeated rival.
