Renowned music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has been appointed as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach by the Benue State Government.

The appointment was formally announced by Governor Hyacinth Alia during a ceremony honouring the Afrobeats star for his enduring commitment to the development and image of Benue State.

Governor Alia praised 2Baba for his significant contributions to the entertainment industry and for consistently using his influence to positively impact communities across the state.

“Let me deeply appreciate you for supporting this administration and preparing us for the future,” the governor said.

“Your name alone makes people dance, even without a song. You are a master of your craft and we believe your influence can help us chart a new course in youth engagement, community outreach, and creative industry growth,” he added.

Announcing the appointment, Governor Alia described it as a strategic move to tap into 2Baba’s wealth of experience and grassroots connection.

“We want to give you more responsibility because you have the capacity to do more,” he said. “It is with great pleasure that I name you Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.”

The move has been widely applauded as a bold step towards strengthening the link between government and the grassroots through the powerful medium of entertainment.

2Baba, a native of Benue, has long been celebrated not just for his music but for his advocacy, humanitarian work, and efforts to mentor young creatives.

Observers see his appointment as a deliberate effort by the Alia-led administration to harness the power of cultural influence and popular appeal in fostering unity, youth empowerment, and civic participation in the state.
