Hotel horror: London manager jailed for rape as police hunt more victims

Quick Read

The Metropolitan Police has now launched a city-wide appeal, urging any other victim-survivors to come forward as detectives believe Fahmy’s offences are far more widespread.

A trusted London hotel manager turned predator has been caged after raping a female guest and sexually assaulting three others — and now police fear he may have preyed on many more.

Ahmed Fahmy, 46, from Barnet, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with an additional three years on extended licence after being found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

The shocking crimes took place over a 16-year period, with Fahmy allegedly exploiting his position in hotels across the capital to target vulnerable women.

The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, April 23, at Harrow Crown Court (sitting at Hendon Magistrates’ Court).

Fahmy has also been banned from working in hospitality and added to the sex offenders register for life.

The Metropolitan Police has now launched a city-wide appeal, urging any other victim-survivors to come forward as detectives believe Fahmy’s offences are far more widespread.

“Fahmy manipulated his way into hotel rooms and violated the trust of both employers and guests,” said Detective Constable James Gomm, who led the investigation. “His abuse was calculated, repeated, and deeply disturbing.”

The predator’s twisted spree was exposed in January 2024 when two women reported horrific encounters at a hotel on West Heath Drive, Barnet, where Fahmy worked. One victim awoke to find him licking her feet. Another was coerced into sharing his room, where he later raped her.

As the case unravelled, investigators linked Fahmy to two other assaults, dating as far back as 2008. In those cases, women described unwanted sexual touching — particularly of their feet — at hotels in Royal Victoria Dock (E16) and a home in Wembley.

Fahmy’s employment record reveals a disturbing trail, having worked in at least five hotels in different parts of London.

Detectives believe the number of victims could be significantly higher and are appealing to anyone who met Fahmy while he was employed at these — or other — hotels to come forward.

Due to London’s status as a tourist hub, officers believe some victim-survivors may be from outside the UK. International guests who believe they may have been targeted are being encouraged to report to the Met Police for confidential support and guidance.
