President Bola Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to renowned journalist and publisher, Mr Seye Kehinde, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated on April 24.
In a tribute to Kehinde’s enduring influence in the Nigerian media space, the President commended his pivotal role in shaping people-focused journalism, particularly through the establishment of City People magazine in November 1996 — a publication that redefined societal reportage in the country.
Reflecting on Kehinde’s early career, President Tinubu highlighted his editorial journey from African Concord to co-founding The NEWS and TEMPO magazines in 1993, before venturing out independently to create City People.
The President described this trajectory as a testament to Kehinde’s resilience, innovation, and commitment to media excellence.
“Seye Kehinde’s remarkable journey from a bold reporter to a respected media entrepreneur is an inspiring example to the younger generation,” the President said.
“His career illustrates how dedication and consistency can elevate one to the pinnacle of professional achievement.”
President Tinubu also encouraged the veteran publisher to remain steadfast in promoting credible, people-centred journalism, especially in an era increasingly shaped by digital technology.
Wishing Mr Kehinde a joyous milestone celebration, the President prayed for his continued good health and many more years of fruitful service to journalism and the nation.
