The Ikeja Progressive Youths have thrown their weight behind Mr. Abisola Omisore, a leading chairmanship aspirant in Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State, by purchasing the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form worth ₦5.5 million on his behalf.
The presentation, which took place on Friday, was witnessed by hundreds of enthusiastic youths who gathered to endorse Omisore.
In a show of solidarity, another aspirant, Mr. Tayo Aderinola, stepped down for Omisore during the event.
Speaking at the gathering, Mr. Gbenga Bolaji, leader of the Ikeja Progressive Youths, said the form was purchased in recognition of Omisore’s consistent humanitarian efforts, proven leadership, and strong dedication to the development of Ikeja.
“Today marks a significant moment in our collective journey towards a more progressive, inclusive, and prosperous Ikeja,” Bolaji declared.
“As the vibrant youths of this great community, we stand united in our belief that leadership is not just about power, but about service, vision, and genuine commitment to the people.
“It is with great pride and unwavering confidence that we, the Ikeja Progressive Youths, officially present the APC nomination form of ₦5.5 million to a man who embodies these values—Hon. Abisola Omisore.”
Bolaji further noted that the decision to endorse Omisore came after a thorough review of his plans, achievements, and long-standing commitment to youth empowerment through skill acquisition, educational support, and welfare programmes.
“Omisore’s popularity in Ikeja is not by chance but by choice—the choice to serve selflessly,” he said. “Whether through healthcare, community development, or direct support, he has touched countless lives.”
He added that Omisore’s blueprint for Ikeja centres on sustainable development, infrastructure improvement, and economic growth, aligning with the aspirations of the youth for a better local government.
On his part, Mr. Tayo Aderinola announced his withdrawal from the race after extensive consultation, pledging his full support for Omisore.
“Following consultation with my legal counsel and supporters, I have decided to step down for a candidate who not only shares my vision for sustainable development but also exemplifies the renewed hope mantra of our national leader and President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Aderinola stated.
“I am pleased to endorse Mr. Abisola Omisore, the most exceptional aspirant to represent our great party in Ikeja.”
In his response, Omisore expressed heartfelt appreciation to the youths for their gesture and support.
“This is not just a form—it is a symbol of your belief in my vision, your trust in my capacity, and your commitment to the progress of Ikeja,” he said.
“Your support goes beyond politics; it represents the power of collective ambition and a shared desire for a better Ikeja. Today, you have not just endorsed a candidate—you’ve ignited a movement for transformative leadership.”
He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise youth empowerment, job creation, inclusive governance, infrastructure, and security.
“The future belongs to those who prepare for it today,” Omisore said. “We will ensure every community, market, and street has a voice, and that Ikeja receives the roads, healthcare, and facilities befitting its status as the heartbeat of Lagos.”
