Ukraine retaliates, bombs Russia’s church

In what appears like a retaliatory move, Ukrainian drone strike ignited a fire that destroyed a wooden church complex in west Russia’s Belgorod region, authorities said Thursday.

The attack hit the village of Sukharevo, where the New Jerusalem church complex, a significant local landmark, was set ablaze after Ukrainian drones dropped explosives.

Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported this Thursday on his Telegram channel.

No injuries were reported in the aftermath.

The New Jerusalem church complex, an entirely wooden construction, is a major monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, Xinhua News noted.
