Late Nigerian singer Mohbad was recently honoured at the 17th edition of the Headies Awards.

His wife, Wunmi, alongside their son, Liam, and close friends and well-wishers, received the award on his behalf.

Speaking emotionally at the event, Wunmi expressed gratitude to the organisers and reflected on Mohbad’s enduring legacy.

“On behalf of myself, my son Liam, my husband’s younger brother Adura, and the Imolenization family, we want to thank you for this award. Even though Mohbad is no longer physically with us, he lives on in our hearts.

“I don’t like referring to him as my late husband because he lives forever, especially through our son, Liam. He may be too young now to understand the depth of his father’s greatness, but one day he will know — he will know how his father’s voice touched people’s lives, bringing them joy and happiness,” she said.

Mohbad, whose untimely death in 2023 remains shrouded in controversy, continues to be remembered for his vibrant music and lasting impact on his fans.
