In a major crackdown on crime, the Kano State Police Command has arrested 33 notorious hoodlums and recovered a cache of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen property during a five-day intelligence-led clearance operation.
The sweeping raids, ordered by Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and spearheaded by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe of the Anti-Daba Squad, targeted key criminal flashpoints across Kano metropolis between April 23 and 28, 2025.
The operation, fueled by actionable intelligence, struck at the heart of armed robbery gangs and drug networks, leading to the recovery of a wide array of lethal weapons and illegal substances.
The suspects, identified as members of the dreaded ‘Yan Daba’ groups, have been charged with armed robbery, possession of dangerous weapons, and drug trafficking.
Speaking on the success of the operation, the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the raid was part of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s nationwide directive to ensure maximum public safety and security.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to round-the-clock patrols, intelligence-driven raids, community policing, and continuous operations to dismantle criminal elements across Kano State.
CP Bakori expressed gratitude to residents for their unwavering support and called for continued cooperation in providing valuable information to help rid the state of crime.
