Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of Dr. Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, following serious allegations of financial and administrative misconduct.
The suspension was announced on Tuesday in a brief statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the statement, Oahimire was removed from office to allow for a thorough investigation into what were described as “grave financial and official infractions.”
“In the interest of accountability and transparency, the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has directed the immediate suspension of Dr. Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire, Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, pending an investigation into allegations of serious financial and administrative breaches,” the statement read.
It further noted that the most senior official within the agency will assume leadership in an acting capacity until a special committee—soon to be set up by the state government—concludes its investigation and submits its findings to the governor.
