The Edo State Development and Building Control Agency (ESDBCA), has marked Eterno Hotel, property of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mathew Iduoriyemkewen, for demolition.

The hospitality facility is located in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin City, and has existed on the landed property for many years.

It served as temporary secretariat for the PDP after the Acting Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, allegedly chased them out of their secretariat located along Airport Road in February.

The State agency charged with ensuring compliance with regulations on planning, development, and building control, inscribed 29.425 ESDBCA, on the property.

As at the time of writing this report, no reasons have been given for sealing the Hotel.

Responding to the development, the proprietor of the Hotel, Mr. Iduoriyemkewen, expressed dismay over the government’s action.

He said: “I don’t know why a state would want to destroy an indigene’s investment. I don’t know whether it is politics they are playing.

“Last time they revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the land, I saw it in the papers. This one they are doing now, I don’t know.”
