Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to facilitate the release of a business woman, Aisha Achimugu on the Commission’s bail conditions.
This order was made on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 after the court was informed that Achimugu’s previous bail to her lawyer was revoked by the EFCC and fresh conditions were issued.
During the proceeding, an attempt by Achimugu’s counsel, Kehinde Oguwumiju , SAN, to seek for the variation of the terms of the bail was opposed by EFCC’s counsel, E.E Iheanacho, SAN and rejected by the court.
Achimugu is being investigated by EFCC for alleged conspiracy, money laundering, obtaining under false pretense, corruption and possession of properties suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means
She was arrested on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 and brought before the court on Wednesday.
Justice Ekwo, in a short ruling, however, ordered that the EFCC should expedite actions to ensure the processing of all bail conditions.
The judge also directed all parties to report on compliance with the directive on May 2, 2025.
