Nigerian online streamer and content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has opened up about the emotional and financial toll of being his family’s breadwinner at just 19 years old.
In a recent conversation with fellow TikToker Sandra Benede, Peller revealed that despite having both parents and older siblings alive, the responsibility of catering for the family rests squarely on his shoulders.
“I’m not feeling okay. The other day, I slept off in my car till the next morning,” he shared. “I don’t like what I am facing at this young age. I’m not even up to 20 years. It is not fair.”
The social media star admitted that the weight of his responsibilities has distanced him emotionally from his family. “I don’t like seeing my family anymore. I just send them things to make sure they are okay,” he said. “My mentality now is higher than theirs. It feels like I’m their parent even though I have an elder brother.”
Peller said his growing resentment stems from the lack of rest and personal space, adding that he often dreams of escaping to the United States and going offline to recover. “I struggle like a parent. I don’t rest. Sometimes, I feel like running away to hide somewhere in America.”
While he maintains communication with his family through phone calls, Peller admitted that his emotional connection has faded. “Before, I used to miss my mum whenever I travelled as a child. But right now, I don’t miss any of my family members anymore. The only person I will miss is Jarvis.”
