Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has reassured Nigerian workers that under his leadership, no worker will face victimization.

His statement comes as the world marks International Workers’ Day, also known as May Day, a global celebration of the efforts of workers.

In his message, Akpabio expressed deep appreciation for Nigerian workers, commending their dedication and resilience in the face of socio-economic challenges.

He acknowledged their significant contributions to the nation’s growth, emphasizing their role even during tough times.

Through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio reaffirmed that workers’ rights will be safeguarded under the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the 10th National Assembly. He emphasized that workers’ rights would be fully protected, and no worker would be victimized for demanding their rights or seeking legal redress.

“Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of Nigerian workers. We, in the Senate—and of course, the National Assembly—acknowledge your invaluable contributions to our nation’s development,” Akpabio stated.

He further assured Nigerian workers that their welfare would remain a priority, with labor-friendly legislation aimed at improving their working conditions and respecting their rights.

“Despite obvious difficulties, you remain the backbone of our economy. I salute your unwavering commitment to excellence and productivity. Your contributions are vital to our nation’s progress,” he added.

Akpabio concluded by reinforcing his commitment to working with the Executive to address workers’ concerns and create opportunities for growth and prosperity. He wished Nigerian workers a peaceful and fruitful celebration.

“On behalf of my family, constituents, and the 10th National Assembly, I heartily rejoice with the workers and wish them a fruitful and peaceful celebration,” he said.
