Name change, same passion: Kweme is just getting started

Fast-rising songstress Nitaa Blonde has taken an important career decision to rebrand by changing her name.

A decision she claimed was very essential while discussing during the week.

Born Anita Osikweme Osikhena, Kweme caught attention with the release of a two-part EP titled ‘Godzilla/Master,’ which, in her words ‘‘it’s about empowerment and owning your strength.”

The project has cemented her status as a rising force in the Afro-Fusion scene, known for blending pop, hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats in hits like ‘Toxic’ and ‘Like This.’

The talented artiste is known for her foray into music after a successful stint in the pageantry world and having an eventful 2024, crowned with the release of her EP.

She took to Instagram to share a video introducing the new name and hinting at the arrival of a new project soon.

“I’m really proud of how far I’ve come,” she added. “Sharing the stage with someone like Davido is a dream come true, and I’m just getting started’’

Beyond music, Kweme has also made her mark in acting, with a role in the Nollywood film ‘The Island.’

She has further expanded her presence internationally by serving as a model host at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Speaking on her recent single ‘Godzilla,’ she stated, “It’s a bold track that pushes boundaries—just like me. I’m not afraid to take risks, whether in music or life.”

Without doubt, Kweme is on the right path and it won’t be out of place to describe her as ‘Blessed’ and ‘Hardworking’ as she has always being impressive in fields she ventured in.

This new season comes with expectations of hit songs, groundbreaking moments, and a total domination of the industry, way beyond the continent.

Kweme’s signature style is one that’s prepared to appeal across various demographics.
