Troubles may be lurking around for the sacked Secretary to Kano government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, as the state government has threatened to expose why he was unceremoniously sacked by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Though Governor Yusuf had stated that Bichi was sacked on health grounds, sources close to Kano state seat of power hinted that the former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) was, ” compulsorily sacked as SSG because of high-handedness, usurpation and corruption.”

Bichi recently decamped from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Our correspondent also learnt from an impeccable Government House source that Bichi, “had little or no regard to Governor Yusuf when he was SSG as he unilaterally carried out functions without approval of the Governor. But Governor endured all his excesses believing that with time, he would change and come back to his senses.”

However, a latest viral video where Bichi described Governor Yusuf’s government as “very corrupt” has opened a new chapter to the smoldering fight between the sacked SSG and the state government.

In that video, Bichi claimed that, corruption in Governor Yusuf’s administration is, “large-scale and ten times worse,” than the immediate-past administration under former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

According to Bichi in that viral video: “What we alleged about the Ganduje administration when we were in the previous platform, this administration has multiplied it ten times. We have proof, and I assure you, we will unseat them in 2027.”

But the state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, described Bichi’s comment as the ranting of a dying ant.

Waiya said Bichi’s outburst is, “misleading, politically motivated, and a desperate attempt to deceive the public.”

The Commissioner also revealed that Kano state government initially concealed the “sins” that led to Bichi’s sack out of respect for him, and threatened to make it public if he continues to spread falsehood against the state government.

“We deliberately concealed the actual reason for his (Bichi) removal from office and stated it was due to health concerns out of respect for him. But let it be known that his sack wasn’t purely for health reasons,” Waiya said.

“This administration is committed to transparency, accountability, and service delivery. Comparing it to the previous government is unjust and a disservice to the people of Kano state.

“If he truly has proof of corruption, we challenge him to present it publicly. Empty accusations will not derail the progress of this administration.

“Given the nature of his recent outburst, I strongly advise him to seek appropriate medical assistance. His health should be his primary concern now,” Waiya added.

The Commissioner further urged Kano citizens and the general public to disregard what he called, “baseless and diversionary claims by Bichi,” and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people of Kano state.
