Police nab man for robbery, murder in Kano

A 20-year -old man identified as Aliyu Umar (20) has been arrested by the police for robbing and killing 30-.year old Shehu Muhammad in his house, with a sharp knife in Danbare Quarters, Kano during a robbery incident.
Aliyu’s partner in crime is still on the run as at the time of filling this report, but the suspect is currently helping police with useful information to conclude investigation.
Upon completion of investigation, Aliyu would be charged with armed robbery and culpable homicide.
Aliyu was arrested at the scene of the incident, and the weapon used in the commission of the offense recovered from him.
He will face prosecution at the end of investigation.

While confirming the incident, Kano Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said: “On 5 May 2025, the Kano State Police Command received information from a resident of Danbare Quarters, Kano, that two suspected armed robbers stormed the residence of one Shehu Muhammad, a 30-year-old male and attacked him with a long sharp cutlass, inflicting multiple injuries on his body.
“Upon receiving the report, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately dispatched operational teams with detectives to the scene.
“The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
“The Kano State Police Command assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order and bringing perpetrators to justice.
