The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, has urged the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) to key into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the housing sector, so as to achieve the desired goal of affordable housing for all Nigerians.
Ata made the call during the celebration of the International Estate Valuation Day in Abuja.
He emphasized the Tinubu administration’s determination to address the housing deficit and reiterated the invaluable contribution of NIESV in the national effort.
The Minister specifically urged the Institute to fully key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Tinubu, stressing that all members must align their activities and professional services with the broader housing sector goals of the administration.
Ata pledged his unwavering support for the Institute and assured them that his doors remain open for ideas, partnerships, and innovations that could enhance collaboration and deliver results in line with President Tinubu’s vision.
He also took the opportunity to extend his goodwill to the Institute ahead of its 55th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), holding from May 5 to 10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, with the theme: “TRANSFORM, INVEST, THRIVE: Optimizing Real Estate Asset Finance and Taxation.”
He expressed optimism for a successful and impactful gathering that would further reposition the real estate and valuation sector for growth.
“Your professional expertise ensures that land and property values are accurate and reflect fair market values, which is crucial for the state to provide cost-effective housing solutions,” Attah noted.
He further extended his best wishes to the professionals on the occasion of International Estate Valuation Day.
He acknowledged the critical role of estate surveyors and valuers in achieving the objectives of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, and called for their active participation as ambassadors of the initiative.
Our Correspondent reports that in commemoration of International Estate Valuation Day, observed annually on March 5, a delegation from the NIESV paid a courtesy visit to the Minister at his Abuja office.
The visit underscored the Institute’s commitment to fostering collaboration with the Ministry to enhance the quality of estate valuation practices and contribute meaningfully to reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit.
The delegation emphasized the importance of integrating modern valuation techniques and professional standards to support national development goals.
