My real friends are not in music industry – Simi

Nigerian singer, Simi, recently shared her opinion on friendship and revealed why she doesn’t have many friends.

Simi shared this in a recent interview with Vj Adams where she spoke on her personality and how she views friendship in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

According to her, she has cordial and respectful relationships with her colleagues.

She added that most of her real friends were not in the industry.

“My friends in the industry are my guys. They’re not friends because they are in the industry. I’m really bad at that, and I always say that I think I have the wrong personality for the industry I have the passion for.

“I’m only doing music because I like music, and there are many things that I like and know how to do, but I feel like my personality is not compatible,” Simi shared.

She also spoke on how she struggles with networking and mingling at social events, stating that her personality isn’t meant for the spotlight.

“I’m really not good at networking, and I don’t know how to engage like that. The rapport I even have with you, I don’t have with many people in the media. These things don’t come to me naturally, so I have to be extra at it,” Simi said.

The famous songwriter is married to another popular musician, Adekunle Gold.

The happy couple have a child who was born in 2020.
