Tinubu pledges to tackle challenges in South-East

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday promised to tackle problems of erosion, the underutilisation of gas reserves, and the exclusion from the National Rail Master Plan in the South East region.

Tinubu, spoke at a civic reception at Alex Ekwueme Square while responding to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s concerns about abandoned federal road projects in Anambra and the South East region.

He pledged to address key developmental challenges in Anambra and the Southeast region.

The President who was on a one- day working visit to Awka, Anambra, emphasised his commitment to improving road infrastructure and fostering national unity through inclusive development.

He acknowledged the strategic importance of completing roads linking Anambra to Kogi State, which would improve access to the South-South and Abuja.

Tinubu also assured the people of Anambra that the Federal Ministry of Transportation would address the region’s exclusion from the National Rail Master Plan and pledged federal support for ecological investments to combat erosion.

He also promised to rectify the omission of Anambra’s gas reserves from the National Gas Master Plan.

Reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to security, Tinubu emphasised collaboration with the state to ensure peace and prosperity.

Soludo, in his response, lauded the President’s visit as a new era of collaboration and shared progress between the federal and state governments.

He highlighted significant federal infrastructure projects benefiting the region, including the rehabilitation of the Enugu-Onitsha Road, the Second Niger Bridge access roads, and ongoing erosion control measures.

Soludo also expressed alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emphasised the implementation of people-centric programmes such as free education, healthcare for women, and youth empowerment, all in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
