The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged a surge in unusual complaints following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results last Friday and has consequently accelerated its annual system review process.

The Board, in a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the review, which typically spans months after the examination, has now been brought forward in light of the concerns raised.

The process evaluates the UTME in three key phases: registration, examination, and result release.

JAMB assured the public that it is committed to ensuring fairness and accuracy in the conduct and outcome of its examinations.

During the examination phase, the Board reaffirmed its practice of rescheduling tests for candidates affected by technical disruptions, ensuring that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged.

According to the statement, most of the complaints have emerged from a few states, and the Board is treating them with urgency.

“We are currently scrutinising these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues,” Dr. Benjamin stated.

“To ensure a thorough and independent investigation, JAMB has engaged experts from various quarters, including the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (heads of tertiary institutions), the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement experts, and Vice Chancellors of universities,” he said.

Benjamin reiterated that, should any technical faults be identified in the result release process, JAMB would implement remedial measures as swiftly as it did for examinations affected by glitches.

The Board reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME, pledging transparency in addressing the issues raised.
