In a bold move to combat cultism at Auchi Polytechnic, the institution’s Rector, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, has revealed that 58 students have been expelled for cult-related activities over the past three years.

During an exclusive interview, Umar discussed his relentless efforts to eradicate the menace of cultism within the campus.

Upon assuming office, the Rector said he took decisive action, forcing all staff—including management— to swear affidavits pledging to abstain from any association with secret cults.

“I made it clear that cultism is a serious issue, especially in this part of the country. Ignorance is no excuse,” Umar said.

“Since 2022, we’ve expelled 58 students caught up in cult activities, and we are not backing down.”

He explained that his firm stance has resulted in a significant decline in cult-related incidents at the polytechnic.

“Many students have renounced their membership to secret societies, which can be seen in the sharp drop in expulsions,” he added.

Umar further emphasized that the institution would show no mercy to anyone found guilty, whether staff or students.

“Cultism has no place here. Anyone caught in such activities will be expelled without hesitation,” he declared.
