The Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, has called for the convening of an an emergency national security summit following a recent upsurge in Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks.
Monguno particularly referred to the massacre of soldiers Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, on Monday. Marte LGA is part of the Borno North which Monguno represents in the senate.
.The Chief Whip said the Monday attacks as well as other acts of mayhem visited on various communities in different times, were a great set back in the fight against terrorism.
“It is very worrisome and shocking that the renewed attacks in Borno and other places has taken a different dimension without confrontation. Just today (Monday) one of my local government area which is Marte came under a deadly Boko Haram Invasion on military formation.
“Many Soldiers were killed with looting of arms and ammunition without confrontation. Let me use this opportunity to call on all and sundry to support convention of National Security Summit (NSS), considering the fact that the renewed attacks seem to be going out of hand,”Monguno said.
