There seems to be no let up yet in the spate of protests against some of the outcomes of the May 10 local council primaries of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
On Tuesday, some disgruntled members of the party converged on the state party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba to express their displeasure with the polls.
The presence of the protesters hindered free flow of traffic along the road.
Security personnel were seen trying to ensure that there was order and no breakdown of law and order.
This happened despite the fact that the party in Lagos had on Monday announced in a statement by its spokesperson Oluseye Oladejo, that an Appeal Committee to address the complaints of dissatisfied aspirants who participated in the primaries had been inaugurated.
The committee, headed by Lagos State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), is to address the widespread dissatisfaction of many members about the primaries.
The committee already gave Tuesday as the deadline for aggrieved aspirants to submit their petitions.
Protests started in some of the local council areas when members alleged that chairmanship candidates were being imposed on them. Apparently, they rejected the idea of having a consensus candidate which the leaders of the party wanted in some of the areas.
