Controversial activist Vincent Otse also known as VDM has responded to people making fun of the fact that his mother is a teacher.

Reacting to online jabs on Monday with a post on his Instagram page, VDM noted that teaching is an honorable profession.

VDM stated that the condition of the country and loss of value for hard  work is what makes people think that teaching is not a noble work.

“I see a lot of posts of people mocking me say I dey do give away say my mother na ordinary school teacher, say I for don open business for her. The truth is that I don’t blame you people. Na the yeye Nigerian government na him cause am, cause normally because the welfare of teachers suppose dey above the roof,”  VDM stated.

He also stated that those making mockery of teachers were once taught by teachers.

“There are some professions in this country that don’t get paid for the effort they put into the system, and that is teaching. That is why you’ll open your mouth and call a school teacher ‘ordinary’.  My problem is that you people are laughing at the profession, you are making mockery of a school teacher, meanwhile who taught you while you were in school? It is a slap and a shame to the Nigerian Government that school teachers are not being valued,” he said

VDM also clarified that his mother was not a pauper, and that she works because she is passionate about her job.

“My mom is not hungry. She teaches because she is passionate about children. Where do you think I got my drive and passion from?” VDM queried.
