R&B star Chris Brown, 36, has been arrested in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Officers from London’s Metropolitan Police detained the American singer just after 2 a.m., following inquiries that confirmed his presence in the city after he landed at Manchester Airport on a private jet the previous afternoon.
The arrest relates to an incident on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, where Brown is alleged to have assaulted music producer Abe Diaw by smashing a bottle over his head and inflicting severe injuries.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023”
Brown is currently held at a local custody suite in Manchester, where detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit are conducting further questioning.
