Pastor Bolaji Idowu, lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), has issued a strong warning to jobless individuals, advising them against entering into romantic relationships while unemployed.
In a recent statement, Pastor Idowu explained that being without a job limits a person’s choices and can distort what they find attractive in relationships.
He emphasized that many relationships formed during financial hardship are not truly love-driven but rather influenced by need or “hunger.”
He said, “Don’t date when you are jobless. There are some relationships that are attractive not because they are attractive, it’s because you have no money. When you have your own money, you will be surprised how you should have not fallen in love with some people. It’s not love induced; it was hunger induced. Never negotiate on a hungry stomach, you will get a bad deal.”
The pastor further warned against settling for less due to poverty, calling this the “crumbs mentality,” where small things satisfy one easily. He urged a shift in mindset towards thinking abundantly rather than being limited by lack.
He added, “I hang around people and when I hear the things that they used to talk about – ‘if I can just travel to America’. How can traveling to America be a goal?”
@drexxcater1 joked, “Don’t pay tithes when you’re jobless too or give offering,” while @_shotbytwitwi humorously stated, “Money na water lenu pastor .”
Others like @vado2023 agreed, saying, “When you have a job, you can date as many as you want,” and @Akomandaniels applauded the insight on “crumbs mentality.”
