Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi is now out of induced coma and recovering after undergoing an emergency surgery that followed an abdominal injury he sustained.
He sustained the injury in a collision with the goalpost during Sunday’s clash against Leicester City.
He had to undergo a surgical procedure on Monday night and doctors had to place him in a medically induced coma as a precautionary measure.
The injury was potentially life-threatening, but the second stage of the procedure which was completed on Wednesday appeared successful.
Awoniyi is said to be recuperating in the hospital while surrounded by family.
