Nigerian rapper Onome Onokohwomo, professionally known as Yung6ix, has publicly appealed for assistance in his bid to quit smoking after more than two decades of nicotine use.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the 36-year-old artist revealed that his body “can no longer accept” the habit he’s maintained for 21 years. He admitted that, despite reducing his monthly expenditure on weed to $600, he has struggled to cut the habit entirely.
“Coming out today to tell everyone I need help. I’ve been smoking for 21 years now and my body is telling me to stop. I’m trying but it’s not easy,” Yung6ix wrote. “I’ve reduced how much I spend buying weed to $600 a month and I need help to turn that to $0. Any help?”
Fellow rapper Phenom was quick to respond, sharing that he successfully quit smoking a decade ago with medical support. “10 years since I quit smoking. [I] can link you up with the doctor that helped me,” Phenom offered.
Surprised and encouraged, Yung6ix replied, “Wow no way bro, so you no dey now kana all this while when we dey yarn?”
Yung6ix, who rose to prominence in the early 2010s with hits like “Ain’t Nobody” and “Passcode,” has been candid in the past about his struggles with addiction.
