Popular comedian Gbenga Adeyinka has penned a moving tribute to Dele Momodu, the celebrated publisher of Ovation magazine, in honour of his 65th birthday.
In an emotional Instagram post, Adeyinka reflected on the profound influence Momodu has had on both his personal life and professional career.
He recalled a memorable incident when, after a performance in London, he was stranded due to airline issues. Momodu generously invited him to dinner and offered financial help, ensuring Adeyinka was well taken care of during a difficult time.
“Aare Bamidele Ojutelegan Ajani Momodu has been a beacon of kindness, integrity, and generosity,” Adeyinka wrote. “He was the first to believe in me when many others did not, even taking me abroad to perform for royalty and high society. He opened doors I could only dream of.”
Adeyinka praised Momodu’s embodiment of traditional Yoruba values—Egbonism and Omoluabi—and lauded his excellence as a publisher and mentor. Adeyinka and many others affectionately refer to Momodu as “BOB DOOOOOOOO,” a testament to his enduring influence and character.
He concluded his tribute with heartfelt birthday wishes: “May God bless him with many more years filled with earth-shaking accomplishments, good health, and immense joy. Happy 65th birthday, Aare!”
