A former BB Niger star Doyin David has opened up on her experience with reality TV in Nigeria, stating that she won’t participate in reality TV again.
Doyin said this in an interview with Trendupp Africa where she stated that her time with reality TV affected her mental health.
“When you go on a reality TV show. They portray you how they want to portray you. Not everything is how you really are, but they’ve given everybody an impression of you, and some of those impressions are not true,” Doyin said.
She also spoke on how the media pushes narratives about reality shows contestants, leading to judgement.
“There’s a lot that people think about me and think I am, in terms of my personality, that is really not who I am at all. Being on a reality TV show, my experience was very challenging mentally, very exposing. I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money,” she said.
Doyin however stated that she was open to the idea if it was outside Nigeria, saying that Nigerians were too judgmental.
“Except it’s a reality TV show outside the country, then I’ll probably take it. But Nigerians are too judgmental, so no, I’m not blessing them with my presence ever again,” Doyin stated.
The media personality was a contestant of the seventh season of the famous Big Brother Naija reality TV show.
