Bid by two high profile suspected kidnap kingpins identified as Yahaya Yakubu and Sani Aliyu Galadi (alias Mai Boxer) to use the funds they have gathered from their criminal activities to perform the holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia has been foiled by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.
The two kidnap kingpins who have been on the wanted list of security operatives were arrested as they joined pilgrims for pre-departure screening at Hajj camps in Abuja and Sokoto, according to report by Premium Times.
Quoting security sources, the publication reported that Yahaya Yakubu was nabbed at the Abuja Hajj camp.
He was said to be a residence of Paikon – Kore village in Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory.
Security operatives allegedly spotted him when he presented his passport alongside others from Abuja who were on their way to observe this year’s hajj.
On the other hand, Aliyu was arrested at the Sokoto Hajj camp by DSS officers who recognised him.
The suspects were allegedly responsible for attacks by bandits in the Sokoto- Zamfara axis of the country.
An official at the Muslim pilgrims welfare board who confirmed the arrest of the suspects said they are currently being detained at DSS headquarters in Abuja;
