Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, Doyin David, has revealed she will never again participate in any Nigerian reality show, citing the negative toll it took on her mental health and public image.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Doyin opened up about the emotional and psychological challenges she faced after her time on BBNaija.
She described the experience as “mentally draining” and said she felt “overexposed” due to the misleading portrayal of her personality on the show.
“When you go on a reality TV show, they portray you how they want to portray you. Not everything is how you really are, but they’ve given everybody an impression of you, and some of those impressions are not true,” she said.
She criticized the judgmental nature of Nigerian society, stating that the harsh scrutiny made her decision to stay away from local reality shows an easy one.
According to Doyin, the misjudgments about her character by the public were a direct result of how she was portrayed on screen.
“There’s a lot that people think about me in terms of my personality that is really not who I am at all. Being on a reality TV show was very challenging mentally, very exposing. I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money,” she said.
However, Doyin hinted at a possible return to reality TV only if it involves international platforms. “Except it’s a reality TV show outside the country, then I’ll probably take it. But Nigerians are too judgmental, so no, I’m not blessing them with my presence ever again,” she added.
