An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday ordered the remand of eleven men in a correctional facility over an alleged murder.
The eleven are: Alim Olumuyi, 51, Lateef Kareem, 60, Kazeem Adeyemo, 52, Oderinde Adedayo, 45, Idowu Oladipupo, 50, Tijani Akanmu, 50, Yakub Oyelahan, 65, Michael Abiodun, 57, Akeem Akande, 45, Kazeem Oke, 48, and Ishola Adebayo, 60.
They were charged on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and arson.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Oladele did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until June 16, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 7, at Lagelu area of Ibadan.
Owolabi alleged that the defendants unlawfully caused the death of one Segun Babatunde by shooting him.
He also alleged that the defendants willfully and unlawfully set fire to some buildings worth N150 million at the aforementioned area.
Owolabi said the defendants also damaged a tractor worth N120 million, belonging to one Idowu Biliaminu, by setting it ablaze.
He said they committed offences contrary to Sections 516, 319 and 443 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
