Award-winning Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that he is “Igbo by blood” in response to a tribalistic comment from a social media user who questioned his close ties with the Igbo community.
The drama unfolded on X (formerly Twitter) when a user with the handle @Yakbel warned the singer against associating with Igbo people, claiming such relationships could lead to betrayal.
“Davido just dey carry Ibo full body, until when dem betray am before e rest. Yoruba boy dey frolick with Ibos in 2025, they want your head and everything you have to belong to them,” the user wrote. “You can never satisfy Ibos. Ibos are not people you surround yourself with as a Yoruba man.”
In a swift and defiant clapback, Davido dismissed the tribal insinuations and asserted his own connection to the Igbo ethnic group. “Lol. I am Igbo by blood,” he posted.
