Kelenda jailed for life

An 18-year-old boy has been sentenced to life behind bars for the savage murder of a man in Brent, in a crime that shocked the community and left a family shattered.

Kevin Kelenda, of Kenton Park Crescent, Harrow, was convicted of murdering 36-year-old Tyrone Pinnock in a swift, chilling knife attack that lasted mere seconds but proved instantly fatal.

He will serve a minimum of 17 years before being eligible for parole.

According to Met Police, the teenager, who was just 16 when he carried out the killing, was also handed an 18-month detention and training order for possessing a deadly weapon.

The brutal incident unfolded on October 19, 2023, when Kelenda was caught on CCTV stalking Tyrone on Kensal Rise before pouncing and stabbing him in the chest with a lock knife. Motive? Still unknown.

Despite rapid emergency response after a passerby flagged down police, Tyrone died on the street, his life cut short by a senseless act of violence.

Detectives quickly zeroed in on Kelenda using forensic evidence and security footage. He was arrested within days and later confessed to carrying the knife, though he denied murder until a jury found him guilty in March.

“This was a brutal, cold-blooded killing,” said Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke. “Though the attack lasted seconds, the impact on Tyrone’s loved ones will last a lifetime.”

Kelenda will now spend his early adulthood behind bars, as Tyrone’s family continues to grapple with the void left by his violent death.
