'How Kaduna housewife killed rival's 3-month-old baby with acid'

The police have arrested a co-wife for allegedly killing her rival’s three-month-old baby boy with acid in Malari Village in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna state

Spokesperson for Kaduna Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed this, in a statement, on Friday.

Hassan said, “The tragic incident occurred on May 13, at their residence.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the second wife, Maryam Ibrahim, had briefly stepped out, leaving her baby in her room.

” Upon her return, she found her co-wife, names withheld, holding the baby.

“The co-wife handed the child back to Maryam, who immediately noticed foam coming out of the baby’s mouth and an injury on his neck.

“The child, who was crying, was immediately rushed to the village hospital , where he was unfortunately confirmed dead,” Hassan said.

He said following the incident, detectives at Soba Police Station swung into action and apprehended the co-wife.

He added that during interrogation, she allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed that she conspired with her husband’s younger brother, who was currently at large.

Hassan said that her husband’s brother, names withheld, allegedly provided her with the acid she used in committing the act.

Hassan said Kaduna Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad had assured the public that all the suspects found complicit in the heinous crime would be prosecuted.
