Launching their operation under the cover of darkness each night at 1:30 a.m., the Taskforce targeted notorious hotspots including Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Obalende, Agege, and other high-risk zones, acting swiftly on community tips and intelligence reports.

In a sweeping show of force, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, led by Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele, has unleashed a relentless crackdown on criminals and environmental offenders across Lagos, arresting a staggering 277 suspects in just seven days.

Launching their operation under the cover of darkness each night at 1:30 a.m., the Taskforce targeted notorious hotspots including Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Obalende, Agege, and other high-risk zones, acting swiftly on community tips and intelligence reports.

The results? A massive purge of street urchins, pickpockets, hooligans, and lawbreakers terrorizing the city’s streets—restoring peace and order to once-troubled neighborhoods.

“We have sent a clear message: criminals and troublemakers will no longer find refuge in Lagos,” CSP Akerele declared.

“Our resolve to protect lives, property, and the environment is ironclad. Lagos will remain safe and clean,” he added.

The agency vowed this is only the beginning. The intense operation forms part of an ongoing, no-holds-barred campaign to eradicate illegal activities and reclaim Lagos’ streets from criminal enclaves and illegal occupiers—ensuring lawlessness is stamped out systematically.

All 277 suspects have been charged and are now facing the full force of Lagos State law.
