The Yobe State Police Command says its operatives from the Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters, stormed a kidnappers’ den and rescued two abducted victims.
It also said an AK-47 rifle was recovered in the operation.
The Command In a statement issued on Sunday, said this was made possible through collaboration with local vigilantes.
“Following a distress call from an eyewitness in Buni Yadi. The police, with crucial community support, swiftly identified the den and stormed the location after a gun battle.
“While the culprits escaped with injuries, they abandoned the victims and left behind the AK-47 rifle with two magazines loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition,” the statement said.
“The victims were rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical checkups.
“Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing culprits for subsequent prosecution,” the statement further said.
