Chaos on set: Nollywood actor hospitalized after unscripted attack on set

Godwin Nnadiekwe

Quick Read

The incident resulted in internal bleeding and led to Nnadiekwe’s emergency hospitalization.

A Nollywood film set turned chaotic on Saturday after actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was severely injured during a shoot, allegedly by fellow actor Zubby Michael.

The incident resulted in internal bleeding and led to Nnadiekwe’s emergency hospitalization.

In a series of social media posts, Nnadiekwe detailed the traumatic experience, stating that Michael unexpectedly kicked him hard in the chest — an act he described as “unscripted and unauthorized.”

“To be clear, the kick was neither planned nor rehearsed, and was entirely unscripted,” Nnadiekwe wrote. “It happened without my consent.”

A disturbing video shared by Nnadiekwe shows the moment the altercation took place. Zubby Michael is seen exiting a vehicle, leaping over a barricade, and delivering a forceful kick to Nnadiekwe’s chest before fleeing into a nearby building.

Nnadiekwe said the painful blow caused serious injuries requiring costly medical treatment, which he had to pay for out of pocket as the production team allegedly offered no support.

“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director,” he wrote. “It caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

His management later confirmed in a public statement that the actor’s condition had worsened, requiring emergency admission to the hospital.

“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening,” the statement read. “He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding caused by a chest injury sustained during a film shoot with Zubby Michael.”

The incident has raised concerns over safety protocols on Nigerian movie sets. Nnadiekwe emphasized the need for stricter safety regulations, warning that unplanned physical action without medical oversight or insurance could lead to tragic consequences.

“What if the outcome had been worse?” he asked.
