Popular Nigerian socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, has responded to widespread criticism after a video of him kneeling to greet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu surfaced online.

While some praised the gesture as a sign of respect, others ridiculed him, questioning his motives and sincerity. Reacting to the backlash, Cubana stated that his detractors are not truly upset about the kneeling itself, but rather envious of his growing influence and visibility.
“Dem don love me so much that they are so hurt CP knelt down for Presidency,” he wrote. “But I know say no be wetin dey pain una. Wetin dey pain una be say why is it always CP?”
In a defiant tone, he compared his experience to that of President Tinubu, who was also heavily criticized before ascending to the highest office. “Na so una abuse them till they became presidency. Na so una go abuse me till I become wetin dey my mind to become.”
The celebrity barman, known for his flashy lifestyle and close ties with political figures, added that he is now more aware of how the game is played, noting that people who receive fake love and hype tend to lose in the end.
Reaffirming his loyalty to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, he added, “CP shall Kneel, Stand, Walk, Work, Dance, Sleep, Grow & Explore,” stressing that his allegiance is unwavering and symbolic, referencing the APC broom emblem.
Following criticism for also kneeling before Vice President Shettima, Cubana Chief Priest shared throwback photos of him and his wife paying their respects during an earlier visit. “My loyalty is water—it flows everywhere,” he declared, calling Shettima a father figure.
